Product Description: A Transparent Solar Electric Car
The Transparent Car is an SUV class solar powered car that can travel without requiring any need for external charging. It is inspired by Stella Vie and Lightyear One that are capable of travelling using solar power alone daily. They will certainly reduce the global warming by not requiring any energy input except from the sun.
The Transparent Car improves on the both Stella Vie and Lightyear One by using a transparent exoskeleton made of Acrylic that is light, scratch resistant and 12 times harder than glass.The commercial Lightyear One costs Euro 50,000 but the Transparent Car will cost less than Euro 10,000 once mass produced while providing better quality and efficiency.
The Transparent Car has a 2D Coefficient of Drag of less than 0.1, less than Stella Vie and Lightyear using the same CFD, the MicroCFD. The transprent SUV is able to achieve this because it is completely transparent so visibiliity is not hampered in the design of the exoskeleton. A Teflon coated Acrylic should improve aerodynamic drag while reducing light transmission loss for the solar panels that are inside the Transparent Car.
Because all the solar panels are insiide the transparent exoskeleton we can cover the whole surface of the car with solar panels and thus iincreases useable solar surface area withouth reducing visibility. The panels can also be adjusted to provide the best inclination to catch the sun rays.
The use of Acrylic allows us to mold the entire exoskeleton and thus reduces the gap to less than 1 mm. Molding Acrylic at a tempareature of 160 degree Celsius is certainly much cheaper and practical compared to Aluminium as used in Telsa cars. This is one secret for the low cost of the Transparent Car.
Unlike the Lightyear One, the Transparent Car covers all its wheels and thus reducing aerodymamic further. No fixed spoilers need to be provided except moveable spoilers at the rear wheel covers and at the front of the car in order to improve stability without compromising aerodynamic drag. TheTransparent Car can cover all wheels because it uses vectored differential steering. For backup and regulatory purposes, differential braking should be provided but limited suspension steering can be provided for more refined steering at high speed.
The vectored steering is possible because the Transparent Car uses rear wheels and suspension of electric motorcycles for its wheels. The trailing arm suspension design reduces aerodynamic further and by using standard and symmetrical parts, costs can be reduced. The electric motors are all hub mounted and this increases hub volume while reducing losses because no gear will be used.Performance can be increased by using proven technologies such as Hub Sink and Evaporative Cooling without costly and heavy technologies such as oil cooling.
The hub motors also allow a completely flat chassis design. This allows not only more volume and convenience but also the design can be completely sealed that it can float and even drive in vacuum.
