Transmittance of glass
Compared to Acrylic, glass is much hotter and more dangerous because it transmits UV light. Acrylic is impervious to UV but as clear as glass.
The visible light spectrum is the segment of the electromagnetic spectrum that the human eye can view. More simply, this range of wavelengths is called visible light. Typically, the human eye can detect wavelengths from 380 to 700 nanometers.
Because infrared signal strength at sea level is reduced by atmosphere, acrylic should be up to 30% cooler than glass.
Optix® IRB is an infrared blocking acrylic sheet that reflects solar radiation, while allowing a high level of natural light. The IR-blocking additive is in the polymer and allows Optix® IRB to deliver exceptional IR blocking along with impact resistance and weatherability.
