Non-street Legal Electric Truck

It gave me an idea on how to commercialise the Transparent SUV.

It has to be used on private property and off-road. That is why an SUV design is ideal for it. Having all-wheel drive helps. Malaysia, and for that matter, anywhere on earth, it will be expensive and time consuming to make the Transparent SUV legal. It is best developed for off-road use first.

What is the point of having an SUV? A truck has lots of uses but SUV? SUV is designed to transport people, less so for things. SUV is also a luxury item, so comfort has to be high but the Transparent SUV will be equipped with air suspensions because it uses air compressors a lot.

Mikah explains a lot about issues of operating vehicles which are not approved and efforts to make them street legal. All parts must be approved by DOT. To entire acrylic body of the car will need to be approved. Let alone the hub motors and vectored steerings.

We can improve the steerings of the SUV by making all wheels slightly steerable by using servo motors but it will incur costs, although the reduction in aerodynamic efficiency and hull-space will be minor. The overall steering will be superior though but are they worth it? They can be developed in parallel and can be made optional, just by adding servos to all the wheel mountings which should be allowed some free play.
