Lightyear Is Launching Back Out Of Bankruptcy

It is indeed admirable that CleanTechnica is willing to cover a bankrupt company. Lightyear made a few mistakes but it could be due to pressures from investors.

Now it has gone bankrupt, and uses its IP as collateral, I hope it is capable of producing practical solar cars.

Mass producing cars is difficult. It should start with custom hand built cars just like normal engineering orojects  Or even in the World Solar Challenge competitions. By selling at double the projected mass production price, customers can be offered unlimited customisations at costs.

At least potential customers can see some solar cars instead of just show pieces that cannot be sold.

The same advice to Aptera and Sono Motors.

One idea that I want to play is to allow investors to buy prototype cars. How it can be achieved, I have no clue. Not sure if invrstors will be happy with just cars, without much controlling interest.

Below is an excellent analysis of attempts by Sono Motors, published in Jan 2023. Tesla started with mostly custom designed cars with outsourced parts and even designs. Tesla was able to produce cars with their limited funding despite raising little money, but loans from the US government was a life saver.

The problems with Dono Motors and Lightyear were that they were not ready for priduction despite the funds that they receive. Aptera should learn but it apoears as though, Aptera has not learned

Aptera is still tinkering with its design instead of producing cars.

March 2023. Aptera managed to get 102 orders but it is still trying to use Open Pilit as its ADAS. Aptera should just get some production units out without any advancements. The others should be optional. Just master the basic car technologies, without even the safety tests yet. The certification can be done at extra costs for each batch of cars.

Even the Model 3 came out with lots of defects.
