Over dashboard solar panel reflections

The white borders are visible on the windshield.
The reflection is reduced by taping the large white borders. There are still white lines of the aluminium wires.

Attempts to draw lines crudely resulted in the dropping of short circuit current from 1.25 A to 1.1 A. Limited the drawings to larger wires resulted in a reduction to only 1.2 A.

By using rulers and fine tipped marker pens, we can reduce the reflections even more.

These panels can power a car radio, even in a shade under the windshield.

These panels should have 0.08 A short circuit under shade. One is not sufficient to play the radio.

In the sun, 0.38 A under the windshield, 1.25 outside the windshield and pointed to the sun. When pointed to the sun, 0.48 A maximum when pointed to the sun under the windshield that is also tinted to block UV and Infrared light.

In another car that has no tint, the current was 0.6 A.

Using a thin layer of cupboard glass, the current reduces from 0.96 to 0.76 A.


These panels are .28 X .54 m in size but deduct .05 from them to get the solar panel area.
